For a first visit, Deltatur’s Douro Valley and Amarante tour leaves Porto at 8:15. You get a quinta tasting and tapas aboard a one hour boat trip. It costs from €89 per adult with up to 16 guests, so look elsewhere for a private day.

A group of eight can take Touch Tours’ Porto food and sailing day with lunch from €105 per adult. You explore Porto and sail from Gaia, where the shared boat takes up to 12 passengers. You get city food and time afloat; the route stays away from the valley’s quintas.

The lowest price is for SS Amazing Douro’s private boat: from €50 per person in a group of 6, 6 of you. That rate requires six adults for two hours with tapas and wine. The trip stays around Porto, so it will not replace a visit to Pinhão.

For a half day spent cooking, Quinta de Louredo’s class starts at 11:00 on selected dates. You cook and eat at the farm for four hours, from €139 per adult. Arrange your own travel from Porto; those four hours leave out the journey to Marco de Canaveses.
