Quintas you can visit in the Douro Valley

15 quintas · independent visits

Updated 22 October 2026 · estate visit pages and booking menus; station distances by road

Bomfim is 0.6 km by road from Pinhão station. The 15 quintas below welcome independent visitors around Pinhão and Régua. From Porto, the Linha do Douro reaches either town; you can continue on foot or by taxi. Quinta de la Rosa's cellar tour starts at €10 per person without a tasting. The quinta booking comes before the rest of your plans. Independent travel can still involve joining a scheduled visit.

Before you go

If I were arriving by train, I'd book Bomfim and arrange lunch separately. I'd take a tour if fitting in several tastings mattered more than choosing each estate.

All questions

Can you visit Douro quintas without a tour?

Yes, these quintas accept direct bookings and independent visitors. If you want several estates beyond town, a tour saves you arranging each transfer but leaves the stops to the organiser.

Do you need to book a quinta visit in advance?

A particular time or language calls for advance booking. Roêda works by appointment; Pacheca books online in advance and Murças by e-mail. Even Carvalhas' independent vineyard walk needs registration or a prior reservation.

How much does a tasting cost at a Douro quinta?

Panascal's Classic tasting costs from €15 per person for three ports. Seixo's visit costs from €20 per person for three ports and takes 50 minutes. La Rosa's visit takes one hour, with four wines from €25 per person.

Which quintas are near Pinhão station?

Bomfim is 0.6 km by road from Pinhão station. Carvalhas is 1.1 km on foot across the bridge; La Rosa is 1.9 km on foot. Roêda is 2.0 km on foot, so it suits you if the walk fits around your booked visit.

Which quintas have a restaurant?

La Rosa and Tedo have restaurants, as do Bomfim and Seixo. Pacheca and Quinta Nova also have restaurants; Portal has one in Celeirós. São Luiz's restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes in January and February. For lunch at Bomfim, book between 12:30 and 15:00 Tuesday to Saturday.

Which quinta is best for a first visit?

Bomfim suits a first visit by train for port tasting. Its Classic Tasting includes a guided visit from €30 per person. La Rosa suits a cheaper visit without tasting.
