Which one is right for you

For a first visit, take Douro Tours’ Discovery at 10:00 for three hours with local transport included. You get a quinta tasting and 50 minutes afloat, from €58 per adult. Lunch is separate, and the group can reach 24 people.

For a smaller shared boat, Deltatur’s lunch cruise takes up to 15 people from Pinhão at 10:30. The three hour programme includes a restaurant lunch ashore, from €85 per adult. Your return train ticket costs extra, so leave room for that journey.

For the lowest price, Douro Tours’ short boat runs for 50 minutes from €15 per adult. You get a guide and a glass of port, but there is no toilet aboard. You need another boat if a toilet is essential.

For the harvest weeks, Quinta da Foz’s tasting gives you an hour inside a working quinta from €35 per person. The tasting covers five wines and olive oil. The slots are 14:30 or 16:00 from Monday to Saturday; choose another option for a Sunday visit.

In harvest: book your September or October tasting before arranging the boat; grape picking is outside these options.
