Douro Autêntico runs a private Land Rover Defender tour in the Douro with tastings at two quintas. The day lasts eight to nine hours and costs from €219 per adult. You start at 9:00 with pickup in Pinhão or Peso da Régua; Tabuaço is another option. Departures run daily except holiday closures. Lunch and one hour by boat are included.

The catch: The 9:00 start is in the valley; the operator still has to accept your booking.

Who it is for

Choose Douro Autêntico for two quinta tastings if you can start in the valley. The outing takes eight to nine hours. Your journey from Porto is separate, and the booking needs the operator's acceptance.

If you need Porto pickup, choose Detours, from €170 per person in a group of 6. For a boat reserved for your party, take Deltatur, from €250 per adult for 2 or more.

Means: Use the 9:00 option with local pickup for two quinta visits and a restaurant lunch arranged around the Defender ride.
